B - Bible

Bible: Understanding the Bible as God's word pointing the way to Jesus.

The Bible is the infallible word of God. As we learn in the book of Timothy it is God-breathed: Our primary, Christocentric and supreme guidebook. It enables us to learn how to walk with God, corrects us when we are wrong and shows us how to be righteous. It is the guide from God which makes us wise in our salvation. If the Bible is at the heart of our day, if we recognise its authority in our lives over and above other influences like our emotions, our reasoning and our relationships then we will be equipped to do the work God wants us to do. It is in fact the word of God which sustains us.

In the life of the church it is where we go when we together hit upon tragedies that threaten to overwhelm us and we desperately need to know the heart of God. It is where we go when our disagreements render us unable to properly understand each other so we can discover God's perspective. It is what God uses to train teachers, prophets, apostles and pastors who have what it takes to raise us up so we are no longer as is written in Ephesians "infants blown around by the winds of teaching but instead...people who [speak] the truth in love, [who] in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ."

In the life of our church it offers us fresh vision every day and reminds us of all the opportunities we enjoy to extend God’s kingdom.
