HTB - Bible in One Year

At the beginning of the year I introduced our theme verse at the Bear Church as Matt 4:4 “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”  (NIV).  This is a quote from Deuteronomy 8:3 where it actually uses the word ‘does’rather than ‘shall’, suggesting that perhaps it’s more of a fact than a command.

As part of this, everyday … er… most days I have listened to the HTB (Holy Trinity Brompton) Bible in One Year app (it is now mid August but I am still in late June).  It’s free to download but I have found it incredibly valuable as a source of nourishment.  So much so that I have even wondered, a times, how people can live without it, suggesting that it really is more of a fact than a command!

You can read or listen, but I tend to listen because it’s easier to fit it into my daily routine.  And I enjoy David Suchet’s reading interspersed with short commentaries from Nicky Gumbel, and Pippa’s final thoughts.  I like their voices and tones!

Of course it’s not perfect, it couldn’t be, and of course I would interpret some things differently and emphasise different themes, but on the whole it is excellent.

A brilliant use of 20 minutes each day!
