Bear Notices

Morning Service – We’re in Acts 1 this Sunday morning. All I can tell you is that there might be some waiting around. Please join us to pray at 10am in the lobby, or arrive before 10.30am for the service start.

Café Church – this Sunday 7 May for youth in Year 9+ with Tim and Julie and special guest Simon J. Leaving at 10.30 am so don’t be late.

Outside Space – Just a gentle reminder to all parents/carers of children that if your children play behind the church and the small garden (accessible through hall) that it is at own risk. Traders use the car park space for storage, so please be aware there may be hazardous obstacles. Children should be supervised by parent/carer at all times. Any questions, please speak to Tessa.

The Evening Service – It’s the first Sunday of the month so no Evening Service, but don’t let that stop you signing up as the kitchen will be open again next week. We need help cooking and setting up from 4.30pm or serving/washing up from 6pm. Everyone over 16 yrs is welcome to come and help. BWU - Women’s Prayer Breakfast at 10-11.30 am TOMORROW Saturday 6 May. Keeping up, this location has also been revealed. It’s a Rachel Veldtman’s home.  Please bring a breakfast item to share and let Emily A know if you’re coming: emily@thebear.tv

STIG – This is Standing in the Gap for anyone who would like to spend more time worshipping and praying for all the very important stuff. Meeting on the first Monday of every month (with some easily explainable exceptions). Next one is 8 May at 8pm; if you would like to come along please speak to Sally B or contact: paul@thebear.tv


Youth House Group – all things deep, meaningful and youthful, for Year 11+ youth at Ben and Katy Nyman’s house. Friday 12 May at 7.30pm.

BEAR MENS WEEKEND - 30 June - 2 July in Norfolk. Get away from London with other men/youth from the Bear, sail blithely on the River Thurne, (land activities available), eat copious amounts of meat (unless you’re vegetarian), make new bromances (or not) and generally chill out.  £60 for the weekend. Women’s Weekend Away – We are now down to 12 spaces. Rooms are on a strictly first come first served basis. £150/adult & £130/Youth (Year 11+) Put it in your diary and pay a deposit of £50 to secure your place. Other Mid-Week Stuff –

Bear Cubs - Mondays, (10-12) Thursdays (10-12 & 1-3) and Fridays (9.30-11.30) in 2017. For pre-school children and their parent/carers. Educational activities, stories, dress up, free play and some stuff for the children too. For details contact emily@thebear.tv

Springs Dance – Summer Course 2017. Whether you are looking for an intensive week of learning technique and repertoire, or a creative and refreshing week of dance and fellowship, this course is for you. The one-week course includes morning devotions, streamed technique classes, repertoire sessions and creative and choreographic workshops to bring dance and faith together through taught, improvised and devised work. All abilities welcome. 30 July – 4 August £165/£135 (concessions)

Dance Performance - As part of the Summer Course, Springs Dance Company will perform an evening of their unique repertoire. The evening commences with a sharing of work by the participants of the Summer Course; followed by a selection of dance works from Springs Dance Company and previous Elevate apprentices. Friday 4th August at 7.30pm, St Luke's Holloway. Tickets: £10 on the door, £8 advance or free for participants.
Cry Walk – the 11th annual fund raising London Bridges Walk is on Sunday 9 July. CRY is a charity, which works to support families who have lost young people and to save lives by raising awareness about Sudden Cardiac Death. Bearspace – art gallery present ‘MESSENGER’ with artists, Ed Harper, Dominic Bradnum, Melissa Burn
21 April- 27 May 2017. 152-4, SE8 3PQ. Deptford High Street. Join us for the private view Friday 28 April 6.30pm-8.30pm. ‘MESSENGER looks at the interplay between the artist and its subject in this case an everyday interaction with their landscape as the focus for their work.’
