Bear Notices

Sunday Morning –  this Sunday Prayer is at 10 am in the foyer. The service starts at 10.30 am. This morning our speaker will be tackling the subject of globalization.

 

Youth – Years 7-9 are with Simon J and Bex upstairs in the youth room. Years 10-13 are staying in the service for the preach.

 

Evening Service – Please sign up to help cook, serve and wash up for this Sunday and future weeks. From 4.30 pm in the kitchen and from 6 pm to serve and wash up. The service starts at 6.30 pm. Easter 2019 – our special celebrations begin on Maundy Thursday 18 April with a ‘Tenebrae’ service at The Bear from 8pm, and then our traditional Easter Sunday service (with fish) at 11am on Hilly Fields, SE4. More details from tessa@thebear.tv

NXDfff – The Bear will be screening ‘Inside Out’ at 2pm on Saturday 27 April and ‘Ma vie de Courgette’ at 8pm on Monday 29 April. If you want to help set up the space, welcome people at the door, serve on the bar, and/or invite friends and neighbours to either event, please speak to Tessa, Kori, Ezra, Vickie, Joe or email tessa@thebear.tv.

The London Marathon – please note there will be no Morning Service on Sunday 28 April due to the London Marathon. Evening Services will continue as usual throughout April (14th,21st and 28th)

 

Branches Worship Night/ Home Group – for 18+ students and young adults. 7 pm every Monday. This week there will be a worship night at the Bear Please contact Becky at students@thebear.tv for more details.

Deptford Ragged School Archive -  exploring & cataloguing the Deptford Ragged School Archive is underway and it's fun! We're finding out so much about our history. If you would still like to get involved, or just want to find out more, 'what actually is an archive?' the next two dates are: Saturday 6 April 9-11 am (with a chance to leave early for Psalms & Stretches) and Thursday 11 April 10 am-12 pm (in the school holidays). Everyone interested is welcome, no experience necessary. Any questions, speak to Katharine 07957766831.

 

The Big Lunch – is back. Bigger, Better, more Burgers…or probably the same as it was last year. 9 June 12 pm at Giffin Square. Put it in your diary. Details to follow.

Women’s Weekend Away – 4-6 October 2019 at the Oast Houses in Sussex. Guest Speaker will be Rosie Amess, curate at St Paul’s Cheltenham. The cost will be around about £165 (tbc) for adults with a discount on youth places. There are only 40 places. the bank is now open for deposits of £50 to secure your place. info@thebear.tv It’s a strictly first come, first served basis so don’t miss out if you want to join us. Girls are welcome Year 11+ (from Sept). But please note there will not be a separate youth programme and girls must be accompanied by their mother/guardian.

Outside Space – it’s still there so please be aware that it’s not a safe place for play. There is property belonging to others and some very hazardous obstacles. Children should be supervised by a parent or carer at all times. Any concerns, please speak to Tessa.

CCTV – be aware that the Shaftesbury Christian Centre is now under surveillance from CCTV cameras. This is for the safety and security of all who use the building. If you have any concerns or would like more information please speak to Paul A or email:

Support Syrian Families – Trinity Vineyard Church are currently recruiting volunteers to support  Syrian Families in Greenwich.  As part of Greenwich Sanctuary Project, Greenwich Islamic Centre have a contract to support the families with settling in to the area and helping them with registering at the Doctors, enrolling at college and setting up home. Trinity are looking for people to volunteer in various roles, some specialised but not all.
