IN OUR COMMUNITY
Last Sunday, Bex spoke on alternative atonement models, which is big talk for one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) idea of the Christian faith: What is the cross and what does it mean? It was a great talk and you can catch it, or listen again, on Spotify at The Bear Sunday Talks.
During her talk, Bex shared a whole host of atonement models but couldn't go in depth with all of them. So just in case you missed them on the day, below are the names of the atonement models that were listed (and some handy Wikipedia links for those I could find): Moral Influence | Christ as Exemplar | Recapitulation | Participatory | Satisfaction | Christus Victor | Penal Substitution
In other news:
THE KITCHEN IS FINISHED!
It's looking very shiny and enticing! There are still a few items that are missing before the kitchen is officially ready for launch. Watch this space for more details but add Mothering Sunday the 15th of March to the diaries for the next service in The Bear building, where we will christen the kitchen! 👩🍳
And last but definitely not least:
Please send big congratulations to Mel Brown who has been appointed as the Community Meal Coordinator. She is a long term volunteer with the evening service and brings with her a wealth of experience. She will be starting in the role very soon, a big warm welcome to Mel!

Joseph Merritt memorial walk : It's been 10 years since Joseph Merritt sadly died at the age of just 16. Call out for donations for family in Gaza : we have mentioned Amjad and his family previously, but as medical access is still limited in the strip, the physical condition of Amjad's father, Yahya, has significantly declined. He suffered from a stroke and now cannot walk, so Amjad has asked for donations so he can buy a wheelchair. These currently cost $650 (or £480) so if you think you are able to donate, please visit his fundraising page.
