The Bear Essentials - week beginning Sunday 14 March

March Update - The Shaftesbury is ready for preliminary building work. The main hall will still be in use until the bulldozers arrive. We will meet in person when restrictions are lifted, whenever and wherever that might be. Meanwhile, we continue to gather on Zoom. 

 

Sunday Morning Service - prayer is from 10am, then the virtual doors swing wide at 10.20 am. 

Please bring a square of coloured paper, a square of green paper, some coloured pens and a pair of scissors. Put your name on your device before you sign in. Any issues, message The Bear on 07707 524977.

  

Breakout Rooms - will follow straight after the service. The rooms are not led or monitored. If you have any concerns about anything discussed, please contact one of The Bear leadership team (Bex, Chine, Hugh, Iain, Paul, Richard or Tessa).   

  

Family, friends and neighbours are very welcome to join on Sundays. Do ask them to contact The Bear in advance for ID and Password. We can then explain the protocol and send them the codes.

Fruit and Veg - we have been supporting the Evelyn and Pepys Social Supermarkets during the pandemic and would love to keep on doing this. Lent Prayer - meeting to pray each day (except Sundays) at 7 am. Come once, or more than once, or every day – it’s a great way to start your morning. 

 

Easter - our ‘Tenebrae’ service will be at 8pm on Maundy Thursday, and on Easter Sunday we will gather on Zoom (as opposed to Hilly Fields). 

 

The Bear Book Club - Thursday 8th April, sharing thoughts on ‘Life Together, The Classic Exploration of Christian Community’ by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Contact for details.

The Bear Youth Camp - we’ve booked exclusive use of the site at Birch Hall Adventures by Frinton-on-Sea from Wednesday 18 to Friday 20 August.  We’ll have small groups, play massive wide games, have night walks, an afternoon at the beach, take part in activities ranging from archery, low ropes, climbing, sailing, canoeing, cave rescue to bush craft and end each day around the campfire. Book before next Friday 19 March. Contact 

  

The Whole Bear Camp - Friday 20 August for a weekend of camping in the sun.
