The Bear Essentials - week beginning Sunday 15 October 2023

'First, take the piece of wood out of your own eye'

Luke 6:42

Homelessness and Mental Health - this week saw the publication of a Ragged Project article in The Big Issue and the launch of our first Directory for Support. Thanks to all who contributed their valuable time and expertise to this work. Pray that these words/tools will somehow help people to find rest and home.

Congratulations - to Maya, Sylvia and family on the birth of Rio.

Sunday Morning Service - at the Ascension. 11.15 for prayer, 11.45 for tea and coffee and 12.00 for worship. There will be a group for youth.

The Bear WhatsApp Broadcast Group - for weekly updates and more, add The Bear Church 07707 524977 to your contacts, then message the number and ask to join the group.

Giving - is part of our worship. We want to continue to pay our staff, our bills and support our local community and our cross-cultural workers. We are now also paying rent on three buildings. The Bear Church bank details are 'Deptford Ragged Trust' HSBC Account no. 21361317 Sort Code 40-02-25. To support local people in food poverty through the Evelyn Social Supermarket please give to the general pot - it's less admin and therefore less costly. The Ragged Project

Tea Towels - our TDRT fairtrade, organic cotton tea towels will be available to buy at Ascension on Sundays. £8 each, £15 for two or £20 for three (cash or card). Stocking fillers?!

Worship - download or stream Dave's new songs and raise money for the Project. We've had the first cheque in - thanks to all who have supported! The link is here: https://linktr.ee/davidwinter

We are 94% of the way to funding our new building. This is positive, but we're not yet where we need to be. Cashflow is extremely tight! A large proportion of our funds have come from or through personal contacts - do you know someone who may want to invest? Or someone who may know someone...? If you need any facts and figures, a template letter or publicity resources, contact Bex or Richard. For the glory of God and the good of the poor.
