Special Guest Speaker - Jo Frew : This Sunday (24th May) we are pleased to welcome Jo Frew to come speak with us. Here is a brief intro to what she will share: "In turbulent times, it's important to reflect on what security means to us and where we find it. This talk will look at some of the difference between 'national security' and security rooted in Jesus, and how we can grow peace and security wherever we are."

Deptford Ragged School Flower Show : Thank you to all who took part in the planting on Earth Day. Enjoy tending to your plants! Please bring them to The Bear to take part in our Flower Show on Saturday June 13th as part of our Community Heritage Festival. We hope to create a fantastic display and remember you may win a prize.
Joint service with Ascension & garden party : we will be co-hosting a service with Ascension on July 19th and have been invited to a garden party following the service in the Vicarage across the road. Please come along and bring something to share with our Ascension extended family.

Small group resource : if you were in the service last Sunday morning, Sarah mentioned the book Making a World of Difference by Dave Bookless. You can download the book for FREE here. It was recommended as a great resource for Small Groups to explore what churches and Christians around the world are thinking about and acting upon in this time of climate catastrophe.
Building project - the final push? : By the grace of God we have come so far with the building project and raised an incredible amount of money together. But we still need a little more to get us over the line. We are trying a new strategy to get us there and we need your help! If you could fill in this form, we will use this information to hopefully open up some new fundraising avenues. More information is in the link but do get in touch with Bex if you have any further questions.
Lift Train for Lily : If you are available during the day on Wednesdays and you drive a car that isn't too difficult for someone on crutches to get into, please do get in touch with Lily as she is in need of a lift to Lewisham Hospital from Brockley following her accident.
Recruit for Environmental Group : We have heard from the Environmental Group in our Sunday morning services recently and if you have specifically felt stirred, curious, or generally excited by these ideas, do consider joining the Environmental Group. They meet monthly and are developing environmental plans for us as a church.
Welcome our new Neighbourhood Hub Coordinator : It is with great joy that we can announce Amanda Merritt will be taking the role as the Neighbourhood Hub Coordinator. The hub will be opening in our building imminently and Amanda will bring her years of varied and extensive expertise to make the hub a place of support and welcome.

Embodied Peace - The Somatics of Grief : Are you finding that the communities where you gather are carrying an increased sense of grief at the moment? St Ethelburga's Centre for Reconciliation and Peace want to equip people with facilitation skills to cultivate qualities essential to reconciliation and peacebuilding: compassion, listening, resilience, and the ability to remain human in the face of difference and change. On 26th June 9:30am-4:30pm, Tanya Forgan, mindfulness mentor and embodiment therapist, is offering a beautiful and very practical training on how we hold and care for people in grief and how to move a community of people through it together.
Call out for donations of saplings : Deptford based mental health charity are on the hunt for saplings for their new garden space. Members have expressed an interest in gardening and the hope is that the space becomes a place of welcome for their community and beyond.
