Joint service with Ascension & garden party : we will be co-hosting a service with Ascension on July 19th at 10:30am and have been invited to a garden party following the service in the Vicarage across the road at 12noon. Please come along and bring something to share with our Ascension extended family.
IN OUR COMMUNITY
Lewisham Neighbourhood Community Service launch : In combination with the launch of the Social Prescribing Hub at The Bear, Community Connections Lewisham are hosting a online session for anyone interested to hear an overview of the new service and how to get involved, find out about referrals, funding and support for community groups and to shape the service during this pilot phase. If you're interested, the session with be on July 28th at 2pm and will run for 90 minutes. You can book here.
Instagram is back! : We have set up a new Instagram page following a hack last year, please follow @thebearchurchdeptford and unfollow @thebearchurch. We have put all of our old posts onto this new Instagram so the posts you receive on your timeline might be from previous years, please give these a like but don't take the information as up to date! We should get back to regular posting over the coming weeks.
Building project - the final push? : By the grace of God we have come so far with the building project and raised an incredible amount of money together. But we still need a little more to get us over the line. We are trying a new strategy to get us there and we need your help! If you could fill in this form, we will use this information to hopefully open up some new fundraising avenues. Lift Train for Lily : If you are available during the day on Wednesdays and you drive a car that isn't too difficult for someone on crutches to get into, please do get in touch with Lily as she is in need of a lift to Lewisham Hospital from Brockley following her accident.

Being Human in the Time of AI : Theos Think Tank are hosting an evening of discussion at The National Gallery to explore how acts of creativity and the emotions attributed to them shape our shared human experience. Communities for Afghans : The Refugee Council is currently running information sessions on their programme for community based settling of Afghan refugees, Communities for Afghans. The next session is on July 22nd, online at 5:30pm. In light of Tracy's talk last week on Refugee Sunday, you may be curious how you can practically support "the foreigner residing among you". Community sponsorship is a pathway to directly support and welcome Afghan refugee families into their new communities. If you would like to find out more, you can visit their website here.
Time to Act : The Just Peace Coalition has brought together churches and Christian organisations across the UK to respond to the call from Palestinian Christians to the global Church to respond not with silence or despair, but with courage, compassion, and action. Together, they are inviting individuals, churches, and communities to commit to working and praying for a just peace for all who call the Holy Land home.
